About the event
A hands-on tukutuku workshop where you’ll explore contemporary patterns, materials, and meanings.
Tukutuku panels are traditional woven wall panels found in wharenui, created through rhythmic stitching that carries stories, whakapapa, and pattern.
In this workshop you’ll learn simple weaving techniques, experiment with colour and texture, and create a small panel that reflects your own story. You are welcome to bring wool for weaving, that has meaning to you, if you’d like to weave its memory into your mahi.
Jumpers and jerseys can be unwound to then use in your panel.
